Fancy Navajo Coffee Meetup: Girls, Gohwééh, Goals, and Glam at Press Coffee

New year, new coffee meetups! This past weekend I teamed up with Press Coffee to kick off my first Fancy Navajo Coffee Meetup of the year! For this meetup I wanted to focus on bringing together some of my favorite Native women creators right here in Phoenix, AZ.  It was nice to get everyone together with some delicious coffee and tea from Press Coffee and some Fancy Navajo treats. Today I will be sharing a recap of the event.

Girls, gohwééh, goals, and glam….

To sum it up into four words, that is exactly what this Fancy Navajo Meetup was about. Deon used this phrase to describe this event. So clever, right???  Gohwééh means coffee in Navajo by the way. Over the years, I have gotten to know so many incredible women creatives who are doing awesome things in their fields. I have known these ladies individually and wanted to bring all of us together.

So what better way to do that than over some delicious coffee and tea. After having a delicious cup of coffee and Fancy Navajo treats, we sat down and introduced ourselves. From Bakers, to YouTubers, to Fashion Designers, Artists, Photographers, and other Bloggers it was such a fun and diverse conversation.

If you don’t already make sure to give these Native women a follow:

Jennifer aka the IG BESTIE and my go to photographer.
Deon, such an amazing painter and colorful artist.
Caitlin, is my go to fashionista on YouTube!
Ashley, my favorite foodie and nutritionist.
Thalia, makes delicious blue corn scones!
Sierra, is my favorite Navajo Vlogger.
Michelle, makes gorgeous fashion designs with Pendelton fabric!

I don’t know about you, but I love learning about other people and what they are most passionate about. There is no doubt that all of these women are extremely passionate about what they do. I am so honored to call them my friends and I am so proud of what they are doing to carve out their own spaces in the Native American social media community.

Love these gals!

It’s not easy putting yourself out there…

One of the reasons, I wanted to have this creative meetup was to talk about what we do on social media and in our small businesses. It’s often a lonely space. Throughout the meetup, we shared relatable stories, business updates, and gave advice to one another. A few even made plans to collaborate in the future! That made me so happy!!

We went well beyond the scheduled hour and a half and I almost didn’t want to leave. The space at Press Coffee Roastery was so welcoming. I could see why a lot of other people were there studying or catching up with one another over coffee. A majority of my guests seemed to enjoy the Chai Tea Latte the BEST.

If you haven’t been to their new location The Roastery on 32nd Street, then stop what you are doing and head there now. It’s such a beautiful space and they even roast their own coffee there!! AMAZING!!  A HUGE thank you to Press Coffee for sponsoring this meetup. I can’t wait to come back and have an Iced Vanilla Latte with Almond Milk. Find your local Press Coffee here.

Also thank you to the ladies who came to the meetup. Not only did we talk, but they taste tested some changes I made to my Fancy Blue Corn Cupcakes. I appreciate that a lot and will keep those suggestions in mind. Now I can’t wait to host another meetup.

Can’t have a Fancy Navajo meetup without Fancy Navajo Treats!
