A Fancy Navajo Tea Party at Bashas’ Diné Market

It’s Navajo Nation Fair season! If you have been following along on my social media channels then you know I recently partnered with Bashas’ Diné Markets to host two Fancy Navajo Tea Party during the Navajo Nation Fair in Window Rock, AZ. I was so excited to partner with Bashas’ and to bring a little Fancy Navajo to the heart of the Navajo Nation. Here’s a recap of the fancy event!

It’s all in the Fancy Navajo details…

The Bashas’ team did a phenomenal job at capturing the true essence of The Fancy Navajo. From the pretty blue enamelware to the copper details, the Bashas’ team created the fanciest Navajo Tea Party that I could ever imagine. It of course included Navajo Tea along with a variety of tea sandwiches and a colorful spinach salad. Everyone got to take home their plate, cup, succulent, and a Bashas’ Cacti reusable tote bag!  You can find these cacti tote bags in all their Bashas’ locations!

Fancy Navajo Recipes…

The true star of the Fancy Navajo Tea party were The Fancy Navajo recipes that the Bashas’ team recreated. I was blown away by how well they executed two of my recipes from TheFancyNavajo.com, all while using ingredients found in store. They recreated my famous Fancy Blue Corn Cupcakes and Fancy Navajo Coconut Chia Seed Pudding. If you haven’t given these recipes you should! They are simple and easy to make.

Of course, we couldn’t have a Fancy Navajo meetup without some fancy prizes. Everyone left with a gift courtesy of myself and Bashas’. I debuted my new blush colored Fancy Navajo shirt that has my signature saying, “Yá’át’ééh Gorgeous” and gave away some Fancy Navajo Scrunchies that one of my Fancy guests also wore to the party. Make sure to follow me on Instagram for when these will be stocked in my Etsy shop.

One of my goals this year was to have more in person events and to spread The Fancy Navajo joy! A huge thank you to everyone who attended the first ever, Fancy Navajo Tea Party. My hopes for these meetups is to not only get to know YOU, but for everyone to leave with a new connection. The Fancy Navajo Tea Party was an event for the books and I loved how some guests brought their moms and grandmas. Even Miss Navajo 2018-2019 Autumn Montoya stopped by!! The smiles on everyone’s faces truly made the event! Ahehee’ for joining me!! I hope our paths cross again soon!

A HUGE thank you to Bashas’ for sponsoring and hosting this event! They truly went above and beyond. I hope we can make this a regular event during the Window Rock Navajo Nation Fair.

Thank you Bashas’ Team!

Did you know?

Bashas’ is one of a few non-Native-American retailers with stores on the Navajo Nation. Since opening its first Diné Market in 1982, Bashas’ has been a collaborative member of the Navajo Nation, supporting education, nutrition, art, and health and wellness through community programs and partnerships.

At least 95 percent of the employees at Bashas’ Diné Markets are Native American, and each store location gives back a percentage of its profits to the Navajo Nation. Bashas’ also operates three other stores on other Native American reservations across Arizona. How awesome is that?!
