I love smiling and showing off my teeth. It’s actually one of my favorite facial features which is why I’m always smiling in my photos. However, there are times when I get a little self- conscious about the color of my teeth. I looove to drink coffee, but this love also means my smile isn’t always so bright. And let’s be real here, I won’t be giving up coffee anytime soon!
From teeth whitening toothpastes to strips, I’ve never seen any drastic results. I’ve always wanted to try professional teeth whitening, but when I asked my dentist how much? Let’s just say that won’t be happening any time soon. So, when Smile Brilliant asked me to try their teeth whitening system I was beyond excited! I could whiten my teeth professionally, minus the visit to the dentist. YES!
The overall process was simple! The kit I tried was the T3 Sensitive System which is recommended for light stains. It arrived within 2 days of placing my order in a cheery blue package. The kit included easy to read instructions and pictures on where to begin. I am a visual person, so I appreciated the pictures!
The first step was to take impressions of my teeth. The impressions are needed to create a custom fitted tray. This meant that the custom tray would be made to fit MY teeth. I admit I was a bit nervous leading up to the moments of taking my teeth impressions. I was mainly nervous I would get the mold stuck in my teeth and would have to call my dentist to explain. Ha! I looked over the instructions and pictures a few more times and within 15 minutes I was done. It wasn’t as scary as I imagined it to be!
It was also helpful that they provided 3 sets of impression material in case I needed to redo them. I ended up using all 3 mold sets since the first try I didn’t bite down hard enough to get a good impression of my back teeth. I rinsed off my molds and sent them off to the Smile Brilliant lab, so they could make my custom molds. They made this step super easy by providing a prepaid envelope that I could simply drop off at my local post office.
The molds didn’t take too long to arrive and soon I was ready to get started. I had my molds, tray of syringes, and instructions which were very detailed and showed pictures on how to administer the whitening gel into the custom fit trays. The teeth whitening process is a bit longer than the traditional whitening strips you can buy at your local drug store.
It was recommended that the first treatment should only be for 45 minutes. But after the first treatment, the total time for teeth whitening could take up to a 1-2 hour per treatment, followed by a 30-45-minute teeth desensitizing. Because of this, I opted to do my treatments at night as I caught up on YouTube videos. The custom mold came in handy for these longs treatments. Unlike whitening strips, the molds stayed in place and I could laugh and talk without worrying about them slipping off. That was a plus!
After the first treatment I had some gum sensitivity, even after the desensitizing treatment. I think this was because I used too much of the whitening gel on the first treatment. Because of the sensitivity, I treated my teeth every other day. By the third treatment, I no longer felt any type of sensitivity. Woohoo!
With that said, a little bit of the whitening gel goes a long way. The kit comes with 4 syringes of whitening gel and I only used half of them. The results were almost instant. After the first treatment you could see a difference. By the third treatment I couldn’t help but notice a white glow after each session.
That’s what I like about the Smile Brilliant teeth whitening system. It starts and ends when I need it to. If I need a little touch up in a few months I can reorder more whitening gel since I already have the molds. How awesome is that! Can you see a difference in the color of my teeth?
