If you watch my Instagram stories, then you may have noticed a trend. I LOVE referencing movies that have iconic food scenes. Movies with food are the ones that I remember the most. Don’t ask me about other movies, because I probably wasn’t paying attention. Hahaha!! Because I love these movies so much. Today I will be sharing my top 10 movies for all my Fancy Navajo Foodies.
Hopefully this will get your mind off of what is going on in the world right now and will inspire you to get in the kitchen. That’s what I love about these movies. Not only do I get to relax while watching them, but almost immediately afterwards I want to get in the kitchen and start cooking!
So, let’s get comfy and dive right in…
- Chef: Two words Cubano Sandwich. After watching this movie, my husband and I went on a search for Cuban restaurants in our area and OMG we fell in LOVE with Cuban food. This movie is all about a Chef who opens his own food truck with his son and friend and they travel around the US. There are so many yummy food moments you’ll have to watch it to see.
- A Little Princess: Are those sausages I smell?? That’s one of the most iconic quotes from the movie about a girl sent to boarding school while her father serves in World War I. I still have yet to have plump sausages like this in the movie, but it is a cute child friendly movie.
- Matilda: You can do it Brucey!!! This movie is about a girl who has the power of telekinesis. I don’t know how much more you could ask for. If this movie doesn’t want you having chocolate cake then I don’t know about you. The pancake breakfast scene will also but a smile on your face.
- Mildred Pierce: This isn’t really a movie, but a five-part miniseries on HBO which is even better. Not only is the lead actress, Kate Winslet, but you’ll be craving fried chicken after you watch this. I am warning you now.
- Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter is Dead: This was one of my favorite movies growing up. Mainly because of the brother, Kenny’s fascination with Julia Child. Cooking practically changes his life around. My favorite scenes are the waffles scenes. It always makes me want to make crispy waffles. As the movie title suggests, that is exactly what the movie is about. It has Christina Applegate in it and also has some iconic fashion scenes.
- Tortilla Soup: Probably one of the most underrated food movies of all time. Every time I watch this, almost immediately I want to make my enchiladas from scratch. From the corn tortillas to the enchilada sauce. This movie is about a veteran chef who is slowly losing his sense of taste and his three daughters.
- Marie Antoinette: As the movie title suggests, this is about Marie Antoinette. This movie will make you have a sudden craving for French desserts and pastries. I almost always want to make macarons after this. You may also be inspired to put on your fanciest outfit and indulge in your favorite treats! Ha!
- Ratatouille: This is my favorite Disney movie. I know… it stars a rat in the kitchen, but the theme of the movie, that anyone can cook really resonates with me. I never knew what ratatouille was prior to watching this movie which is so delicious by the way.
- Julie & Julia: This is my favorite movie of all time!! I love Julia Child and Meryl Streep does an excellent job at portraying her in this film. After watching this movie, my husband fell in love with Julia Child’s Beef Bourguignon. We made it the same day we watched the movie. It is now his favorite special occasion meal. I make it for him on his birthday!!
- Chocolat: If you love chocolate then this movie is for you. After watching this movie, I always want a warm cup hot chocolate. This movie is about is about a lady and her daughter open up a chocolate shop in a very tranquil French town. I apologize in advance if it makes you want to go on a chocolate binge.
Alrighty!! That sums up the list. Have you seen any of these movies? If so, which is your favorite? Did I miss your favorite foodie movie? If so, let me know in the comments. A huge thank you to the hubby for helping me put together this list.
